From his time as an instructor at Scoil na nDaltai, where his good humour and wit raised our spirits during his lectures, to stints at AHQ, Cyprus, and finally during his time as GOC Eastern Command, it was an honour to have known and served with him.

I knew the General and he knew me. All the way up the ranks he had time for all of his soldiers.
