My sincerest condolences to the Cahill family on the passing of one of life's gentleman and incredible individuals. His unfailing commitment to duty as a Marist Brother and his selflessness to all who came in contact with him, made him very special. As a student of the Bower and the Marist and for a lifetime afterwards I have great memories. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

It is with great sadness that I send sincere condolence to the Marist Community and Cahill family on the passing of Bro. Gerard.
He was a great person with such a love of his family, education, GAA football & hurling (especially Galway), gardening, photography and life in general. He gave so much of himself throughout his life to the Marist Brothers, his family and friends, the pupils & staff in the secondary school and the Athlone community at large, a true inspiration to all. He will be missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

It was sad to hear of the passing of Br.Gerard. a man who give his life for the improvement of both through education and spiritual example. Thanks to the Cathill for sharing this great man with us. May our Lady lead him home to his just reward.

Sorry to hear of the death of Bro. Gerard May he rest in peace. I only got to know of him when he was doing the Cahill tree. Many a chat we had at night finding out where all the relatives were buried. His father and my grandfather were brothers but he did not know of my father's existence
he did know of his two sisters. Lovely man the mass was a lovely tribute to him.

I was lucky enough to spend much of my childhood in the company of Bro. Gerard. He had an innate ability to speak to people of all walks of life and of all ages. I remember him fondly as I think of the many hours he spent gardening with me and my siblings while he chatted with us. One particularly special memory is of the time he planted a beech tree for me around the time of my birthday. He made a lasting impact on my own, my family’s, and the lives of many.
