Brother Muiris was a rarity and I feel lucky to have known him as a friend and to have had the benefit of his wisdom as a mentor.
Added to that there wasn't much he didn't know about the game of hurling.
Fond memories of training sessions in Rathbane and his calls to our house at anytime morning, noon or night!
We were lucky to have him.

Sad to hear of the loss of Br Cunningham. I was in his 1st class when he came to Midleton and as so many have said already he was there to educate us but he was equally interested in educating us on hurling. He had a different approach and love for the game that was infectious to us all. His target was to beat the city schools which never happened in those days. While he narrowly failed with us, those that followed quickly started to turn the tide under his guidance. Rest in peace
— Jerry O Farrell
