We are deeply saddened to hear of Cathal's sudden passing. We extend our deepest sympathy to all his family. He was a very nice man to have known.
— Irene Healy and Derek Haughton
The news of Cathal's passing just reached me today, and I am so, so sad to hear about it. I first saw Cathal's 'The Spokesman' van driving around Loughlinstown in 2013. I gave him a call, asked him around to service the old bikes that we had, and ended up buying 2 Merida bikes from him - I still have mine, and it is the best bike that I ever had. We usually saw him at least once a year, and kept in touch via Facebook. Cathal was an insighful voice on bike selection and bike care. But above all that, he was one of life's gents, and we easily spent more time chatting during one of his house visits than was actually spent servicing the bikes. He was taken far too soon, and the world will be a poorer place without him and his smile. May he rest in peace.
— Ian McDonald, Shankill

Was so shocked to hear this news. Cathal was such a kind soul, taken way too soon. He fixed all our bikes on a regular basis, I also bought my bike from him and remember the energy and positivity that he radiated each time we spoke. He was a regular in the Peoples park and always had a smile and a wave and time for a chat with the kids as well as the adults. He was one of lifes good guys that has left us all too soon. May he RIP and wishing all his family strength to cope with this massive loss to the family and the local community.
