I had the pleasure of getting to know him as a fellow Apprentice in the Army Apprentice School Naas for 1 year, I was in No. 2 Platoon and Charlie was in No. 4 Platoon. We became good friends when we discovered that we were both from County Monaghan. I was so delighted to hear that he never forgot his roots and that he remained a supporter of the Monaghan County team all his life. I only renewed my contact with Charlie in recent years by becoming friends on The Army Apprentice School Facebook page. Charlie was a true gentleman. May God give you the strength to bear your loss at this sad time. May Charlie, Rest In Peace.

Sincere sympathy to all the Martin family on the passing of your beloved Father.
I only had the pleasure of knowing Charlie over the last three years even though we had a similar military path through out our careers. I went through the Air Corps Apprentice School and was on the 6th Potential Officers Course. Because of COVID we only met in person three times but had some great chats about our military lives.
I was devastated and saddened to hear of his passing and to lose such a good friend in such a short time.
A true gentleman was Charlie, Rest in Peace.
