I was so shocked when a colleague at Sheffield Hallam told me that Chitra had passed away. I will always remember a lively and cheerful young colleague who was always a pleasure to meet. I had the pleasure of being one of Chitra’s PhD supervisors and together with my wife, who met Chitra on a few occasions, was greatly saddened to hear this news. Chitra had been in touch in recent months about her plans to write a book as part of our continued collaborations since her PhD, although that would have been Chitra’s own work. I am sorry that plan didn’t come to fruition. Our deepest sympathy to all of Chitra’s friends, colleagues and family, and especially Fergus and their two sons.
