These past 40 years Christine Keegan has been the public face who personified one of the greatest community campaigns for Justice anywhere in Ireland. A powerhouse and inspiration far afield, home and abroad.

In December 1981 I ‘cold called’ to her home on behalf of the original Sunday Tribune newspaper.

In her home Christine evoked the 48 who died in the Stardust — their names, their Life stories, her own teenage daughters Mary and Martina.

Christine and her husband John used sit into their car at night and drive into the cemetery. They would shine the headlights on the photos of their daughters. Shining the light in darkness became the symbol of the campaign for Justice waged on behalf of all the Stardust families.

Christine’s powerful words over the decades underline that the 48 Stardust deceased, in the words of the poem, “shall grow not old.....age shall not weary them.” May she now encounter Peace, Joy, Justice. Eugene McGloin, Sligo. (The Sunday Tribune, 1981).
