I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Chris Wall.
During his tenure on the board of Aer Lingus, he was never afraid to address the important issues. However, he did so always conscious of the impact on members of staff and their families. He was always very honest and forthright in his advice and guidance which I valued greatly. And finally, he had a great sense of humor and an ability to lift the mood when the ‘going got tough’. May he Rest In Peace.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of a life time friend, we were involved at national level of Athletics for over 50 years. A great and hard working official at all levels. you will be sorely missed by all your family and athletics family.

We are heartbroken following the death of our club president, Chris Wall. Chris had been a member of Dublin City Harriers for some sixty years and in that time he competed with distinction and fulfilled every role on the committee with skill and determination.
He was an accomplished athlete a superb committee man and became involved in broader administration during the late 1970s ultimately becoming international secretary of BLE. He immediately developed relationships with event promoters and meaningful international competition became available to ever larger number of athletes. The tributes being paid by former international athletes bears testimony this.
He was innovative and was the prime mover in staging the world cross country championships in Leopardstown. He established the Great Ireland Run. He set his heart on achieving unity among the athletic bodies which was delivered in 1999 when AAI was formed. Chris was appointed a Life Vice President of AAI in 2019.
Chris was a high achiever in business, sport and politics, but behind all of that he was a family man. He was devoted to his wife Myra, and children Jacqueline, Richard, Eileen and Mary, he loved them, and his wider family deeply and always spoke of them. Their loss is greatest and all we can do is to support them and share their pain.

My sincere sympathies to Jacki and your family at this sad time. I pray that you know God's peace and strength around you during the days ahead.
