I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Clare last month. She always had a great interest and skill in genealogical research and was willing to help everyone. She will be sadly missed at the meetings of the Genealogical Society of Ireland.

I was so sorry to hear of Clare’s death. Clare served for many years on the Board of HAIL, the Housing Association for Integrated Living. During my time as CEO of HAIL Clare was extremely helpful and inspiring to me in my work. She had incredible empathy for those suffering with mental health difficulties and passionate about people being enabled to live independent lives in the community. We also became friends and I will miss her wisdom and advice. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. May she Rest in Peace.

— Joe & Marian Tuohy, Grange, Holycross,
I knew Clare from UCD where we had friends in common. Our American friends Debby (ex UCD) and Tad visited Dublin in March 2023 when we went to see Clare and met Mary. Although frail, she was still interested in current political events, aware of recent publications in local history especially Ged Walsh’s book on Rathgar and Churchtown, up to date with fiction through her book club. We were very glad we had a chance to spend time with her and they have asked me to give their condolences as has Mary Potter from Newtownards. I saw Clare more regularly after she did a NUI Maynooth course in Local History out of which grew a Local History Alumni group who meet once a month, in Pearse Street Library, to attend presentations given by members on their dissertations or ongoing research interests. Clare attended regularly for years. She was interested in local history and genealogy - a good researcher in both. I remember she gave a presentation on the development of an early 19th century terrace called Clonliffe Parade and its residents. We knew she was not well when she was at our zoom covid talks and didn't make it back again when meetings resumed after that hiatus. I have been asked to express the condolences and sympathies of this group where Clare is very kindly remembered, to Clare’s nieces, family and friends. She will be missed by those who knew her. May she rest in peace.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Clare RIP 🙏 She was a great woman that have left a legacy behind especially with her work with the family history that bonded a lot of the Tuohy families far and wide together. She often said my Dad, Bill was her favorite cousin due to the banter they had together regarding certain issues & stories they had. Clare was well able for him which did not go down well sometimes with him.
May she rest in peace now with Joan & their family as they welcome her to her final resting place 🙏

Clare was a friend and work colleague for over 30years. She set a high standard as a mental health social worker, she was empathic, dedicated and an effective advocate on her clients behalf. She contributed to the development of the mental health services and was a valued and respected within the service.
Nobody could have a better friend than Clare, she was always supportive, helpful and caring. Unfortunately we lost contact in the past few years, however I was fortunate to have had a conversation with her before Christmas for which I am very grateful . My condolences to Mary, Meade and Sinead, you had a wonderful aunt. Being in Melbourne I will not be with you in person on Wednesday but will be online.
