Like all of the members of the 42nd Cadet Class I was aware of Barney's illness and greatly saddened by it. His untimely passing still came as a shock to all of us who knew and loved him, and I can not imagine how sad and difficult it is for all of the family particularly in these strange times. We were not able to gather with you to salute his passing and to support you in your grief but rest assured that he and all of you are in our thoughts and prayers, and he will not be forgotten. We will remember Barney and indeed all of the deceased members of our class when we can safely gather to do so, and I hope that you will be able to join us then to celebrate his life and his contribution to his country and to his family of which you can be justifiably proud.
