A true gentleman, Sorry for your loss.
— John O'Connor
It's with deep sadness that TODAY ( the day following his funeral !!) and only by chance I heard of Martins passing !!! What a sad SHOCK indeed .
To me in my time of knowing Martin in the army he was a thorough gentleman.. good humoured ,kind ,considerate ,and unincumbered by his rank in all of his interactions ..... the measure of a TRUE GENTLEMAN.... I recall in full his unique personable kindness and friendliness to me on every occasion. ... at dheis De..... a lovely man in every way...
My Deepest sympathies and condolences..... a immense loss to us all !!!

Beatrice and family, I was shocked to hear of Martin's sudden passing.
My first Adjt in An Céad Cath after commissioning and my Coy Comd in C Coy 54 Bn UNIFIL in 83/84, our paths crossed many times thereafter until his retirement. Always a friend, always a man whose advice was valuable, may he now rest in peace.
And may you, his family, find peace and serenity.
