I feel privileged to call Darragh my uncle. There was always great delight when the O'Reillys car was spotted coming down the path on a Sunday afternoon. We would all come running from all corners of the house and garden to gather in the kitchen and spend time with uncle Darragh, uncle Darragh was like a magnet. When uncle Darragh was talking to me, he always gave me his full attention, in that moment I was the most important person. I remember as a child, uncle Darragh would enquire how school was going, who was my teacher, lots and lots of questions. If uncle Darragh got the slightest hint that I was in anyway discontent with my teacher, he would offer with great enthusiasm and gusto, to speak with 'said teacher'. Such was uncle Darragh's confidence in me, that he always assumed I was a good student and if I was not content at school the problem must lie with the teacher.
My sincerest condolences to Aunty Jo, Siobhan, Ronan, Mairead, Anne, Orla and Aoife, sending big hugs across the miles, lots of love from Sheila Benjamin and Matthew.

To Orla and all the O’Reilly family. Mr O’Reilly, as I knew him, was such a fabulous, larger than life character. I’m remember him holding forth from the sitting room in Ballyroan in the early’90s when I used to call round on Sunday evenings. He would bellow out “come on in here Deirdre Deasy” with a big hearty laugh and then set about trying to extract as much craic and banter as he could muster (I.e. a lot). He was a huge people person, massively charismatic and also very kind. I know you will all miss him so much but he will always be in your hearts. Xxx
— Deirdre Deasy

Deepest condolences to Joe and the O'Reilly family. Goodbye uncle Darragh. We will we all miss you in Bellewstown.

When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
Maya Angelou.

Kinds words is something you were all about.
We will miss you terribly. Thanks for all the happy memories.
Joey Joyce and family.
— Joey Joyce
So sad to hear of Darragh's passing. He was a magnificent man and I was priviliged to know him. I hadn't seen him in recent years but whenever we met in the past with his great warm smile and a twinkle in his eye he would ask "well, how's Quinner". The members of Na Fianna who knew him had a great fondness for Darragh due to many things but especially his infectious positivity and eternal good humour. My condolences to you his family - you are in our prayers. God speed Darragh.
— Johnny Quinn Na Fianna
