Darren, there aren't enough words to express the positive and profound impact you had on my life. Time spent with you was always intriguing, engaging and so much fun. I'll never forget your hilarious pranks, or your favourite poetry which you so graciously shared with me. Your intellect was razor sharp, and not something I've encountered before or since. You were so generous, incredibly kind, and brilliantly creative. You told such hilarious stories and made us laugh harder than anyone. You encouraged me so much, and showed me so many new poems, books and works of art. I'm so grateful to have known you and I'll cherish the time we spent together. You were truly special, and so, so loved.
— Lisa

My deepest condolences to Darren’s family and all who loved him. It is hard to conceive of a life without Darren in it. He had huge impact on me, and I know I’m not alone. He was the funniest, most kind-hearted and engaging person I’ve ever met. Self-deprecating, charming and completely disarming – when his light shone on you, you felt so special. But it is he who was so very very special and I just hope he knew how much he meant to so many. I feel so lucky to have had him in my life. Rest easy, Darren, in the arms (and paws) of your loved ones. You’ll be forever in my heart xx
