News of Davey's sudden and untimely passing has left me reeling. It was both a privilege and a joy to have known him. He was great craic to work with all those years ago. Going back to Murphy Bros at the Crescent and Longnecks, the late nights and early mornings are are coming back to me now. The innumerable trips to and from Dublin in the back of the Patrol was always better than taking the bus. Audrey, Richard, Keelin, Sara and Simon, I'm truly saddened for your loss of a great, funny and all 'round sound man. The world will be poorer for his departure. Rest in peace Daithi

Just heard this news now. I'm shocked and saddened. David was a gentleman and thorough professional with a permanent smile and great sense of fun.

Hard to fathom he is gone. Have nothing but the fondest, & happiest, memories of a very, very fun guy. Back in the days of Longnecks, he was the giver of a gazillion lifts up & down from Dublin at the weekends to Ross & I. The journey was always full of laughter! David was a founding member of ‘The Biker Gang’ in school back in the day
Probably the only biker gang without an engine between them - in fact some didn’t even have a bicycle
I’ll remain anonymous cos I wasn’t cool enough to join but David personified coolness without realising it

How sad I am to hear of Dave's passing. He was a wonderful classmate of mine as we soldiered together in Business Studies and Marketing in Galway RTC in the mid 1980s. He was a true gentleman then, so it is no surprise that he went on to live his life as it seemed he would when we knew each other back then. Alas, he has been taken far too soon. To Audrey and all his family and friends, my deepest condolences. Farewell, my friend. It was an honour to have known you.
