I am so sad to be writing these words especially for those who are reading them now. I am very sorry for your collective loss. We all have magical and fun memories of Dave. Mine are from our teenage years in Ballyb and my only regret was not keeping in touch enough over the intervening years. Dave liked the craic and to mess about but in a fun way (at least in my memory which might not be the most reliable at 56!). Shur looking back we were so innocent as a mad night out might have been roller-skating. No phones for us lot with boredom being a key driver for creating some fun out of nothing. May you rest in peace Dave and may your family and friends come to terms with your passing.
— Dermot O'Grady

Deepest condolences to Sue, Kate, Quinn and all the Hickie family. We all have the fondest memories of Dave. He was kind and funny and Uncle Joe always laughs when remembering Dave wanting to be lifted up as a kid to see himself in the mirror. He loved seeing Dave last September in Ireland. He was a really good cousin and looked after his twin cousins when ‘stranded’ with 8 friends in New York over 20 years ago! We are thinking of you all at this terrible time. Much love uncle Joe, aunty patsy, Alison, Jennifer and Grace x
