I came across this sad news by chance and I was shocked to see that Dave had passed away. We were in college at the same time and spent a few summers together working in Munich. Great times and great memories of a good guy. My deepest sympathies to Celia, Stephen and to Dave's wider family.

May he rest in peace.

My sincerest condolences to Celia, Stephen and Dave’s extended family. I cannot tell you how sorry I am for your loss, for all of our loss.

Dave and I worked side by side at Great-West for the past 8 years. We hit it off very quickly, with a shared passion for football and a good pint, and over the years became very good friends. We were often traveling together and countless times we’d grab a quick pint after work on a Friday. We’d solve the world’s problems and share many a great story. If it was a longer evening, there would often be memories of footballing adventures from younger days – his accent getting stronger and quicker as the evening wore on!

David was hugely respected inside and outside the company – he had a rare combination of super sharp intellect, street smarts and common sense, and a quick wit to go along. And above all, he was a real gentleman. He will be so sorely missed. May you rest in peace Dave.

With my deepest sympathies,
Garry

My deepest sympathies to Celia, Stephen, and Dave's extended family and friends. Like many here, I met Dave on the football field when we played for Trinity. He had a friendly outlook and a sharp mind and I got to know him well over those years. When we'd meet in more recent years, we'd get right back into it like no time had passed, a testament to his easygoing manner. Rest in peace, Dave.

Celia and Stephen, my deepest condolences on the passing of David.

David was a friend and a colleague. We bonded over our travels at Canada Life, from Luxembourg to Bermuda, from Colorado to Winnipeg and from Toronto to Dublin. His love of family, football and the occasional beer was something we shared. He was of course an intellectual giant but also a genuinely gentle man who had tremendous spirit but an overwhelming sense of fairness. We regaled each other over our time in Munich in the early 80's where we found out we both worked, without knowing David we must have crossed paths, he as a busker in Marienplatz at night and me going faithfully to Marienplatz to be entertained by buskers. I had the pleasure of going to the 2016 euro game in Lille with David for one of life's great adventures before our Luxembourg board meetings. I enjoyed David's company as we cheered my beloved TFC in the fan section. I won or lost a bet with David over the years as we cheered Chelsea in his case, and Bayern in mine. Over beers we solved many of the worlds problems. I am heartbroken at David's passing and I hope that all the great memories of David will act as some comfort in this incredibly difficult time for you.

May David rest in peace,

Fred

As a fellow-director of Energy Action over many years, I was so shocked to hear the sad news that Dave had died very suddenly at the age of just 62. I will always remember him as a great colleague with a dogged determination to get things right, mixed with genuine humanity and a wonderful sense of humour that shone at our annual pre-Christmas board dinners. He will be missed by so many whose lives he touched. My deepest sympathy to his wife Celia, son Stephen and the entire family, whose loss is incalculable.

Dave was a colleague and friend during our time together at Copers in the 80's. He was one of those people who excelled at everything they did - academically, career, playing the guitar/singing, goalkeeping at a high level among them.
