Dean my Nephew I remember , bringing him for walks in the park as a child with his beautiful blonde hair , people stopping to talk to him. Dean was one of the sweetest, kindest souls I have every met, he was a proud Irish solider travelling to Chad and the Lebanon as a peace keeper helping people in need . Thats what Dean was all about always looking out for others. I am going to miss him so so much, his laughter, his Kindness, generosity. His soul will live for ever and ever in my heart . RIP Dean

To Derek, Fiona, Anita, Shauna, Katie and extended family.

Our time with Dean was always short, but from our limited meetings and memories it was not hard to see that Dean was a light-hearted and warm individual. So down to earth and easy to talk to. I will hold dear the memories of Dean.

Today was a beautiful ceremony, and we are thinking of you all. I'm so sorry for you loss.

With love
— Amy, Forbes and Evie

Dean was my first grandchild. As such he has a special place in my heart.
He was taken away from us in a very cruel and untimely manner.
Our hearts are broken,

Dean was a beautiful child, a beautiful boy, a beautiful teenager and a beautiful young man.

Dean never gave his parents, Fiona and Derek, a moments concern or trouble. He never asked for anything, was fiercely independent, but was always ready to give everything.
He loved and adored his two sisters, Shauna and Katie and in particular, Shauna’s and David's two children Jamie and Hollie.
He joined the Army, served overseas making his Great Grandad Eddie proud. Met the love of his life Anita, and they moved in together, buying an apartment in Athlone.

Last year Cliona booked Dean in for a fast ride on the Mondello car racing circuit .He was delighted. Unfortunately it was not to be.

But Dean went one better. On Monday night at 10.30pm. He put on his helmet and goggles, stepped into his own private spaceship, sat back, pressed the button and took off into the night sky, past the moon, and up towards Jupiter, Mars and Saturn. Free of gravity and pain he broke the sound barrier,  letting out yelps of excitement tearing across the starry sky, doing loops, dives and climbs,

So if you step out some clear night and look up at the midnight sky, and see a bright light streaking past, give a wave and blow a kiss, because it may not be a Chinese, Russian or American satellite, but our very own Dean Machine.
