Declan was one of a kind, i couldn't have worked with a nicer person throughout my time in Eventsec.

He always had a smile on his face and made the long shifts we done together barable.

This kind soul always made sure others were looked after before looking after himself.

I will truly miss you Declan - an extremely kind, loyal and caring friend and work colleague.

Sincere condolences to Declans Dad, brother and sister at this sad time.

We were also in the same hotel in Jerusalem as Declan and the Leixlip group. We were saddened first of all to hear that he had taken ill and we included him each day in our Mass and morning prayer on the bus. It must have been a very lonely time for his brother in Jerusalem. I will say Mass for Declan and the Family tomorrow - hopefully as close to the time of his funeral as we can make it. At a sad time like this, there may be some consolation in recognising that he passed into the Communion of Saints on All Saints' Day, and entered the Heavenly Jerusalem after having enjoyed the sights of the earthly Jerusalem. On behalf of all the Redemptorist pilgrimage group, our deepest condolences to Declan's family.
