I write on the day of Declan's Funeral Mass. May he rest in peace. I have known Declan since school days at the Abbey Grammar School and, although our respective work meant sometimes long periods without meeting up, it was the easiest thing imaginable simply to resume where we had left off the last time, often in the shop in Hill Street. I am immensely saddened by Declan's death. He was a gift to the world - always interested in everyone and everything around him and so so funny, loyal and thoughtful. My deep sympathy goes to Maryanne, Keith, Lauren and Greg and Fiona whom I remember from music lessons with Mrs Cronin in her red room! Dear Declan - Go forth upon thy journey Christian soul.
