With Deepest Sympathy to Gavin, and all the Family, from all his friends & adversaries, at Bray Chess Club. Denis was a warm hearted, welcoming, wiley old Divil & he hated to lose! One Season, we needed to beat Portmarnock CC to stay up & I was playing Denis!? Well, it must have been the longest, hardest game I ever played!? Security were being called to remove us from the premises, but our team managed to prevail! After several previous attempts, I had finally gotten the better of him, though, looking back, he taught me a lot! May he Rest in Peace. Mervyn Honner
