Sincere condolences to the family on this sad occasion. I was a very junior member of the backstage crew in the very early 80s when Denis was stage manager. He was a kind and considerate gentleman, the leader of the team, directing with authority, patience and consideration and always with a great sense of humour, expecting a high standard of work but understanding the pitfalls and errors of the novice! It was a privilege to be part of the team.

Denis was the Water Safety Officer for the City, and his dedication to duty, contributed greatly to the humanitarian goal of saving life from drowning on all the waterways within the city! Also his voluntary commitment as Treasurer and a Member of IWS Committee, ensured the organisations teaching of swimming and lifesaving to many within the County!
