We have just heard the sad news that Denis is with us no more.

What a larger than life character he was. He remembered everyone, including the childrens names, and made each visit to his beloved Shelbourne hotel so memorable.

We will sadly miss this wonderful legend of a man.

I was terribly sorry to hear about Denis. We stayed in touch following the death of my husband, Tom. Denis’s prayers, and his thoughtful and kind words, provided comfort during difficult times.

God bless you, Denis. Thank you for enriching countless lives, including mine.

It is with a heavy heart that I send condolences to the family and huge circle of friends of the remarkable human being that was Denis. On my very first day he christened me "Sheila Mary" and every time I heard him call my name after that it brought a smile to my face, regardless of what was going on. I worked with Dennis for many years and he remains the only true hotelier I ever worked with. He put other people ahead of himself and was a great ambassador not just for the Shelbourne but for the country. God bless

On behalf of our family we wish to express our saddness at hearing the death of Denis he was a wonderful person to meet and be friends with. We were just remembering him at our wedding twenty-five years ago in May where he did a lovely reading and organised a lovely hotel for us on our honeymoon in Rome.

Heart broken to hear of the passing of Denis. I had the pleasure of working with Denis in the Shelbourne for over 3 years. We had many a laugh (and cry) together in the office. The O'brien, our neighbours were fantastic friends to us all growing up.
Denis was always there for myself and my other siblings for advice or bit of craic.
I met him in the Sherbourne a few times for a coffee and a catchup.
He was always there for me, any advice or an ear to listen. He was loved by many with whose path he crossed especially in his work.
