The Ray of Sunshine Foundation has lost a great friend and Patron. Derek always gave huge support to our charity and he had the greatest admiration for all the work our volunteers did in Kenya helping the less well off. The Board of Directors and our Volunteers would like to express our deepest sympathy to his wife Una and family. He will be sadly missed. "Safari Salama Nyumbani" - "Safe Journey Home"

Derek was by far one of the best broadcasters at RTE. My favourite programme from Derek was when he presented the fishing programme Out of The Blue. I don't have much interest in fishing but I thought it was very interesting and informative to hear his vast knowledge of the subject.

It is really heartbreaking to think he would die of a stroke after making a big effort not so long ago to go on and lose a lot of his weight not thinking about death beforehand.

Rest in Peace Derek Davis.

It is with a broken heart that we heard of the death of Dereck Davis this week surrounded by his family who simply adored him, he was the light of our lives and the greatest TV presenter to us and so many others, We are so full of admiration for him and all that he achieved, he touched so many lives and will never be forgotten. He was a kind hearted, genuine human being. People looked at him and see that he shone greatness and beauty. Looking at all the tributes so far it is obvious Derek's humble attitude makes everyone love him even more. He treated others the way he would want to be treated and did for others as much as he could . He had love for all living things . Being friendly and loyal, there needs to be more people like Derek in this cruel world of competition. To all his family members although there is nothing that can ease the loss you're feeling now. Its hoped these words of sympathy will help to show you somehow the warmth and care that's felt for you by those who share your sorrow as precious memories will always remain with you at a time when words can say so little and hearts feel so much.
