While working with Derek I saw at first hand how hard Derek toiled incessantly for his people. Nobody was excluded from direct access to his time. He petitioned all arms of Government on his constituent's behalf, no request was left unanswered. His motto was Consult First, Act Second.
Lucan and Dublin Mid west is the richer for his life's work. My sincere condolences to Ann, Niamh and Sinead and his extended family for the loss of one so loved, my school friend.
