I was so very sorry to learn of the passing of my good friend, Derek. He was a kind, funny and very obliging person and we had so many laughs together. I will miss him so much. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam dílis 🥀

I got to know Derek well over the last two years through Markievicz Celtic but I was absolutely amazed when only a couple of weeks ago, Derek reminded me of a team I played in 25 years ago, he named the whole squad and could remember games, scorers and results from that season! He was a fountain of knowledge and historian for all the local football clubs and we will miss him terrible in the windjammer and at the matches. Deepest sympathy to all the family RIP

Everyone at Markievicz Celtic FC would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Derek Walsh who passed away unexpectedly last week. Derek was a quiet and unassuming man who knew so much about the history of all the local clubs. He could tell you about all the history of all the clubs in our community. He loved his football and never missed a Saturday match home or away since we restarted our senior side. He was a great man to have a chat to and we will miss him at our games. RIP
