Dear Carol, Louise and all the family. It was with great sadness that I read of the death of Dermot.
You may not remember me but I stayed in your home 1975-1976 when I first moved to Dublin to work. It was a home away from home for me and I remember Dermot even then was sowing his own seeds and growing plants. I would say he instilled a love of gardening in me that has never left me. A wonderful legacy. May you be sustained by the memories of all the people who were inspired by him. May he be at peace.
— Geraldine Mills Galway
Deepest sympathy to all of Dermot's family. It was my pleasure to meet him at our Garden Festival in St Senan's School Enniscorthy. He spoke about beauty of roses.
All proceeds from that fundraiser helped towards creating a beautiful sensory garden for all children in school.
Rest in peace Dermot.

My Sympathy to Carol and Louise on the sudden death of your brother Dermot, R.I.P.
I first met Dermot many years ago as a young man trying to become established in his profession, when I worked with his late Aunt Nora in Dublin.
He would often join us for lunch in The Royal Dublin Hotel and entertain us with much fun and laughter for the duration with his lovely stories regarding his gardening/horticultural exploits.
Rest in peace Dermot in your Heavenly Garden amongst the scented Roses with your Grandparents, Parents, Maura and Peter, and your beautiful Aunt Nora, R.I.P.

So sorry to hear of Dermot's passing. I have the happiest of memories working in Marlfield garden centre with my sister Colette and Dermot and all the gang back in the day. We were all students. I remember after a long day working on a saturday climbing into Patricia's small car and she gave us a lift home. Dermot was so passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable even as a young teenager. Condolences to his family. Thanks Dermot for all the fun.
— Georgina Killeen Lewis

My heart goes out to both Louis and Carol.
It was so sudden it must have been a shock to you.
I did not see much of Dermot but had talked to him only the week before to arrange to see him. He was up beat and having his hair done when I called.
My memory of him has always been him running out into the back garden as soon as we arrived to see show us his collection of cacti. He was so excited and enthusiastic. He was about four or five at the time. Louis, Nico’s son now collects them and I always think of Dermot when he is showing them to me.
May he rest in peace. All my love Siobhan xx

Sincere condolences and prayers to all the O'Neill Family from your neighbours at no 16 Springhill Avenue. I remember Dermot, Carol & Louise as we all grew up together on the road. A real gent who always had time to chat and from an early age had a love and a passion for gardening and a front garden that was full of colour all year round. Dermot in the 1970's was even then a young gardening expert and budding entrepreneur, who during the school summer holidays, loved growing and selling plants by regularly going around neighbours doors selling tomatoe plants in yogurt cups from his greenhouse.

Rest in Peace
