I was very sorry to hear the sad news of Des's passing, and extend heartfelt condolences for your loss. I have nothing but good memories of him, he was so good-humoured and kind-hearted. His card playing colleagues will miss him greatly.

So sorry to hear of Des's untimely passing - heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends. Des is very fondly remembered as "one of the good guys" by the Newbridge College Class of 1977. Des was a year ahead of us but played (very good!) rugby with many of us and we particularly remember his great dry wit and friendliness. May he rest in peace.

I am very sorry to hear the sad news of Des’s passing. He was a great friend of my late brother Stephen and was the first Newbridge College friend Stephen brought home. Des instantly became part of the family. I will always remember his lovely smile. In recent years I bumped into Des a couple of times and we always stopped for a chat! Dear Eda, Cliodhna and Peter. I was so sorry to hear of Des’s passing. He was one of life’s gentlemen. I got to know Des through my late Dad, Tom O’Brien. During the last years of my Dad’s life he would meet up with Des, Peter, David and Lewis in Eddie Rockets in Stillorgan on a regular basis for breakfast. There was always a great banter and laughter between them all. I don’t think that I ever meet Des when he did not have a smile on his face. Thank you Des for all the laughter, jokes and fun at your boys breakfast in ER’s, you certainly contributed a sense of fun to my Dad’s many breakfast visits. You will be missed.
