So sad to hear of the passing of Donal Webb(the smiling man at the crossroads).My daughter and I always looked out for him and it would warm any heart to see him sitting there in his chair,when the sun was shining he had the cap on and an icecream,his presence brought so much pleasure to so many and if he wasnt out on the chair we would wonder where he was.
I hope he has a very special chair above in heaven bringing the same joy
Wouldnt it be a lovely tribute to have a plaque erected in honour of his memory

Very sad to hear this got to know this gentleman and his family when i visited my mother in Glyntown Care Centre i would always watch out for him when i would be passing by it was lovely to see him sitting outside his house . The road through Glanmire Village will not be the same without him. Rest in Peace.

I only learned recently that he was called Mr.Webb.
For years we used to call him the Sunshine man due to him sitting outside waving.
My daughter used to want the lights to go red so she could give him a wave.Always lovely to see him there.When the new Greenway is done, perhaps a little plaque or statue of him waving could be contributed to by the community to remember him.
