So sad to hear of Donncha’s passing. Sincere sympathy to all the O’Dulaing family and to his sister. He was the earthy voice of the hidden Ireland. He came to Killeagh, Co. Cork to record the show ‘Classic 81’ for his unforgettable ‘Highways and Byways’. His ‘Failte Isteach’ on Saturday nights reached the nation and its diaspora. and he was generous to the last in promoting local events. The door is closed and the lights are out for a master broadcaster. His like will not be seen again.
May Donncha, Vera and Sinead enjoy the celestial ‘Parlour of Dreams’. Rest In Peace.
— Mary Pedder Daly, Killeagh, Co Cork

Comhbhrón croí do chlann Uí Dhúlaing ar bhás Dhonncha agus Vera. Is mor Linn bhur bhris. Our Community here in Glinsk and I first became involved with Donncha for the "Winter March" 1987.
What an honour and privilege it was for us to have Donncha, Vera and Sinead with us on that historic occasion.
The seeds of friendship sown on that occasion grew over the years since then.
Donncha was a real legend who gave a voice to so many communities around Ireland.
He truly recognised the meaning of pride of place.
He allowed us to be proud of our History, our Heritage and our Culture.
The Glinsk Community is saddened to hear of the passing of Vera & Donncha.
Slan abhaile - Leaba I measc na naoimh go raibh agaibh.
— Marty Ward, Glinsk
Comhbhrón libh, muintir Uí Dhúlaing ar ocáid báis Donncha agus Vera. Táid le chéile anois ins na Flaithis.
Duine de mhór chraoltóirí a linne ab ea Donncha. Gael go smior agus Corcaíoch mórálach a bhí ann. Fear cáirdiúil agus cóluadar den scoth gur bhreá liom bualadh leis i gcónaí. Is fíor nách mbíonn a leithéid in ár measc ró mhinic

Ar Dheis Dé go raibh sé féin agus a chéile dílis Vera agus go dtugaidh Dia na Glóire siochán agus solás dóibh siúd ata croí bhriste ina diaidh
— Seán Ó Sé
Slán sábháilte ar Neamh anois in éineacht le do mhnaoi agus d’iníon, a Dhonncha.

Dear Donncha your final resting place is far from the Hi ways and By ways that you made your own many years ago.
Many kind paragraphs will be written about you now and rightly so. You were a true legend the likes of never to be repeated. Most of all you were a thorough gentleman who worked hard for the less well off in society.
I experienced your sincerity and special personality when we walked the roads together on various walks, the most gruelling being the 32 county walks for IWA. No one could understand your motivation to walk at least 20 miles in every county in Ireland, concecutively and meeting people, giving speeches and especially loosening up the pockets of well wishers. That time we used the evocative music of Sharon Shannon( probably illegally) which has never left my head since . Likewise in the Holy Land you represented Irish people with pride and decency.thankfully there are famous archives which no doubt we will now hear again. May you rest in peace Dear friend. A great Irishman, a reputable historian, a political force and a true friend of ordinary decent folk.
— Seamus & Fen Thompson, Oldwood Roscommon

Sincere condolences to the O’Dúlaing family on the sad passing of your mother Vera & father. Donncha was an exceptional broadcaster . He understood country people and we all loved his programmes. As a young lad I loved high ways and Bye ways especially a day after a big Munster championship game when he played back his recording of people he met , played snippets of the match and of course the music from the Dunne brothers on the way to the pitch in Thurles or Limerick.. Then his weekly sat night programme Failte Isteach was unmissable it was like the Riordans or Glenroe on TV. Sat nights haven't been the same since since 2015.
I'm sure you as a family will be very proud of all the well deserved tributes paid here and elsewhere. May he and Vera rest in peace.
