I learned of Dr Fishers passing with great sadness. This kind, upstanding and brilliant man will never know how much he helped me with his advice as an undergraduate student in Kevin Street. This was a man who put the welfare of his students first. And he will be forever remembered with gratitude.
— Alan Sherry

Dear Kate. I've just learned the passing of Jonathan.

I'm very sorry for you.

Tonight I will drink a glass of Lagavulin 16 on his memory. My wife never forget gifting me with a bottle of this treasure since I told her that Jonathan said to me (in Port Ellen, Islay) that it was his favourite pleasure in Christmast time. That magical 1993 summer :-)

Such sad news Kate. We are deeply saddened to hear you have lost one of the best and so sorry to not be able to attend his funeral. Jonathan (aka Dr. Fisher!) was a truly wonderful person - serious, cool, calm & collected on one level while the master of devilment & craic on another. Sometimes the two got mixed with lethal accuracy only Jonathan could master in a dead pan sort of way, especially within the small confines of boat sailing around Ireland; heading to Scotland, the Isles of Scilly or France. A glass will be raised this evening and some stories told, ‘Dr. Fisher’. Thank you for some wonderful memories aboard & ashore.

To you Kate and to the Fisher Family we offer our sincere condolences.

Go ndéana Dia grásta ar a anam dílis.
— Gerard & Kathleen Daly
