I was saddened to learn of Seamus’s Passing. My Condolences to his Wife and Family at
this difficult time. At one period we both worked and played football with Cork Airport where he was very well liked and most popular. His commitment and multiple successes with Schools,College,Club and County in both football and hurling are unparalleled in Cork
A wonderful Community Man, he was a prominent member of Cork Male Voice Choir. They performed on a number of occasions in Kinsale to raise funds for the Restoration of our Parish Church.
Seamus was most likeable, good humoured, considerate, kind, helpful and most humble about his remarkable achievements and successes on the G.A.A Field.
GOD REST YOU, SEAMUS

Dear Looney family

I was sorry to hear of the passing of your father. My own father knew him from driving him to Cork matches in the early 70s. Seamus went on to save my Dads life in the late 70s when he drained an abscess around his pancreas at the bedside when my father was close to having a cardiac arrest.

I am now a consultant in gastroenterology and we do procedures like that with a team of 5 and about €150,000 worth of kit. I tell my trainees that it has cost us millions of euros and 40 years of technological advancement to get to a point where we can all be as good as a man with a good knowledge of surface anatomy, self-confidence, hurlers biceps and a 16G needle. May your Dad rest in peace from our grateful family.
— Anthony O'Connor
