It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing away of Professor Thomas McMahon, Past-President of the Irish Society of Occupational Medicine and a founder of the Section of Occupational Medicine of the European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS).
Prof. McMahon was also a constructive, valued and very active President of the UEMS Occupational Medicine Section: all the colleagues of the Section will always remember him with respect, great appreciation and warm feelings.

Siobhan and I were deeply saddened to hear of Tom's untimely death. I have known Tom since our school days (he was one of the big boys) and later through Occupational Medicine where our paths often crossed. It was very sad to know about Tom's latest days and death, it is a big loss. I had the privilege to be part of the wonderful group that he and Ewan Macdonald (Glasgow) created as the UEMS Section of Occupational Medicine. He was such a great leader, colleague, and very kind friend, I feel very lucky for that. Some years ago, my daughter and I spent holidays in Ireland and both Tom and Stephanie were marvellous hosts, how beautiful memories. Thanks Tom!
