I'm still, a week after the service, coming to terms with the abrupt but so Eamon-like loss of my old and loyal friend and colleague in the Conciliation Service. The madness, the mischief, the afternoons we had no hearings and went hilariously AWOL (Crocodile Dundee??)...the people watching, irreverent but not cruel....his dignified and positive acceptance of his diagnosis...breakfast in Glenalbyn...when we went for coffee only a few weeks ago and, on the way home, he earnestly requested a diversion to Tesco...I thought he was out of essentials, and he was-around Tesco (off licence!) following him on his walking frame and carrying and filling a wine box under his instructions, with a nice gin on top! Claire, Mary, Michael and the nephews, nieces and grandnephews and nices to whom he was devoted will miss him immeasurably...won't we all. A bientôt, mon ami
— Raymond McGee
Sincere sympathy to Michael, Mary and Claire on Eamon's passing. I didn't know him well when I worked in the Department of Health but we chatted when we met in and around Farmleigh after he retired. I met him on March 10 when he was out walking at lunchtime and was so sorry to hear of his sudden death. The Chair remembered Eamon and his contribution to the estate at the Farmleigh Residents Association AGM last night. I hope it's some comfort to you that so many people have very fond memories of Eamon. May his soul rest in peace.
— Emer Shelley
I am so sorry to hear of Eamon's passing. He was a superb raconteur and was great fun to be around. He has been taken much too soon. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to the Corcoran family. Eamon was a never to be forgotten personality. He was effortlessly articulate and entertaining in large and small groups. He was an authority on Irish politics and current affairs, a Google before Google. Thanks Eamon for the original metaphors, the anecdotes and the belly aching laughter. Farewell.
— Brendan Linehan, Class of 1979-80
Very sorry to hear of Eamon's passing. We were classmates in UCC in the early 70's. Eamon's cut a dash in Student politics, intellectual debate and liberal social thinking. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam..
— Christy O' Sullivan, Enniskeane
Sincere condolences to Eamon's family and friends. I will always remember his good natured and literate grumpiness at the foibles of our fellow FCA members, particularly when late night chatter shortened a good night's sleep. Ar dheis dé go raibh sé.
— Colum Layton
Deepest sympathy to Eamon's siblings and extended family. The funeral service you organised for him was a fitting tribute to the great gentleman that he was. Eamon was highly intelligent, a great and entertaining raconteur with an acerbic wit. One memory I have of Eamon was a trip with the Civil Service Football League to the Isle of Man in Easter 1982, where Eamon alone managed to dodge playing any football! As always, he was great company. On the return journey, we had a very pleasant crossing on the ferry. The sea was calm and we enjoyed the journey on deck in splendid spring sunshine with the conversation in full flow. In the midst of it all, Eamon produced, from the depths of his rucksack, a bottle of Glenfiddich which he distributed in an assortment of plastic cups thus lubricating the flow of conversation even further. Who else but Eamon would have thought of that! Rest in peace Eamon and thanks for the memories.
— Michael O'Flaherty ex-Department of Labour

Sincere Condolences to all the Corcoran family and Eamon's friends. We are shocked and saddened at the loss of our friend Eamon. A proud former civil servant, a gentleman to his fingertips. I first met Eamon in 1986. A lovely kind gentle man. Clever sharp and witty but never ever cruel or cutting. He did a lot of good quietly and thoughtfully behind the scenes, it was the essence of the man.
Eamon you will be sadly missed but as another dear mutual friend said this week, we can only be glad to have known and loved such a wonderful man as our friend. We have such lovely memories to sustain us..
not least the burnt Christmas Cookies..

Very sad news... our Branch has lost a good friend and loyal supporter with the death of our friend Eamon Corcoran on 16th March. Despite having serious health issues of his own (not MS) Eamon supported our collections and events. Eamon even turned out on his own to represent our Branch at a Leinster game collection and so obtained a portion of the proceeds for our Branch. Our sincere sympathies to Eamon's family and friends. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

So sad at the loss of my great friend. Witty, urbane and intelligent but also very kind and thoughtful. So many memories - the Coffee Group trips to Barcelona, Madrid, Nice and Paris; our trip to Santiago de Compestela, many coffees, lunches and dinners. He dealt with his diagnosis with pragmatism and grace and continued to live the life he wanted. A great colleague who loved a crisis (but not so much the humdrum) and dealt with them superbly. He had a huge and unparalleled civil service network including in the AHCPS, where he did trojan work. Most recently we had a great trip to Spain last year and on the Friday before he died we had a really great night in One Pico where he was clearly a favoured customer. My deepest sympathies to his siblings and family. He will be missed by many
