Eddie (Edward) McCarthy

Edward was so helpful and kind to people who experienced difficulties with learning music theory and was brave enough to discuss his dyslexia with them so they weren't alone in their vulnerabilities. He had a laugh that reminded me of my nephew and sometimes his straightforwardness made me gasp out loud but he cared and he will always be remembered with joy and wonder. May his playground of dreamss be everything he imagined and more. 😇🎶🎤🌠 IJ Wyse

I knew Ed from his time in Cork. He was an eccentric and a gent and I shared many good laughs with him. Very sad to hear of his passing. My condolences.

My sincere condolences to you both. Bill and I were very sorry to hear about your son’s sudden passing. The eulogy allowed us some insight into how talented and loved he was. I was able to watch the Mass on iPad. The hymn - immortal invisible - brought me back to Crohane Church with Jane playing the harmonium.

I was very sad to hear of Ed's passing and my sincere condolences to his family. I knew Ed from Cork years ago, wow, what a character and entertaining front man. One of a kind, Ed you will be missed. Rest in peace.

I was in a band with Ed from '04-'09, he had enthusiasm and flair which made him ideally suited to being a frontman in a band, he was also a good singer.
He was a unique individual and I've yet to meet another person like him, condolences to his friends and family.

I am privileged to know Ed from our Drink & Drink meetings and Sceitse explorations. I will always remember him as a wonderful and unique spirit that elevated every occasion, not only in his aplomb and style but also in his great heart, gentility and grace in our adventures, may he rest in peace. My sincere condolences to all his family at this very sad time.

I remember Ed as a naturally creative student with an exuberant personality when he studied art in St. John's college. My deepest condolences to the McCarthy family .

I knew Ed from my brief time at the Cork Academy of music. He was always a gentleman. It was an honour to have known such an honest, classy, kind, unique, intelligent person. My last memory is of him laughing alot and having a great night out with the group in the Oliver Plunkett. So sorry to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to all of his family. I was extremely shocked and saddened to learn of Edwards untimely passing, condolences to his family and close friends he was a rare and special talent and I was privileged to have played with him in the band Tapp’d , Edward was our front man, we played many venues in and around Cork city, they were magical times. Rest in peace Edward, Cork has lost a great musician.
