We played together for many years on Fitzwilliam squash league teams and had great times. In particular we shared a wonderful squash tour of South Africa in their rugby world cup year - great company and great memories.

On behalf of the Leinster Rugby family I wish to express my condolences to Grainne, Eleanor, Emma and extended family on the passing of your father Eddie. He was an inspirational member of 70 year standing and a dedicated servant of his beloved Bective Rangers and had the great honour of representing them as Club President in 2000/2001.
He will be remembered with great fondness by all his Bective colleagues and indeed by the numerous visiting supporters to Donnybrook.

Eddie was proactive for many years in fundraising for Bective. He was an outstanding clubman and a great friend.
I enjoyed many occasions with him and will miss him greatly.

I will miss the regular phone calls I use to get from Eddie when he had thought of a new idea or initiative on how we could improve the club. Sincere condolences to the Bryan family on the passing of Eddie, on behalf of myself and my father, Sean.
Eddie raced (rowing) with and against my Father, Sean, in the mid 40s in Athlone. Eddie, then came to Athlone Regatta 4 years ago ... more than 70 years later where they met again, and I had the pleasure of meeting him.
Eddie's visit to the Regatta and support of the club will always be remembered.

Dearest Emma, Grainne, Eleanor and Family, I am thinking of you all during this time. Your Dad/Brother/Father-in-Law/Grandad/Friend was a true gentleman and himself and Mrs Bryan (I still can't call her Mary) were a great team and wonderful parents. They were together through thick and thin and even though we know they are together now, its so hard for those left behind (for now). Emma, you and Pablo have a wonderful family and all of the grandkids and indeed yourself, Grainne and Eleanor are a credit to your Mum and Dad. Emma, I wish I could do something to help you - I am always only a phonecall away. We are friends forever, in the good times and the bad and I am always there for you. Love always. X

Deepest sympathies from all at Athlone Boat Club. We have very fond memories of Eddie and had the pleasure of meeting him at our regatta a few years ago. He rowed as a schoolboy in the mid 1940s and was very proud of his winner's medal at Athlone regatta in 1946. May he Rest in Peace.

Very sad news. Eddie will be remembered in this family for his constant good cheer, friendship and loyalty, regularly keeping in touch with my ailing dad Eddie Bergin which was very much appreciated. My dad was very fond of him, they went back a long way and of course shared a South African connection which they'd often refer to in entertaining reminisces. A sad loss. Eddie's support, hard work and comradeship will be greatly missed in Bective. Eddie was very proud that Robbie Henshaw flew the flag for his Alma Mater and it was wonderful that Eddie was spared to see him play his best rugby this season.
