My sincere condolence to Eric's family and partner Anne-Marie. I was shocked to hear of Eric's passing. A young gentleman who only brought laughter and joy to anyone who knew him. I worked with Eric in Ballyfermot and Tallaght D.S.P. offices over the years and we always had a chat about the Pitch & Putt etc. God bless you Eric, you will be badly missed.

Anne and Anne-Marie, so truly sorry for your loss of lovely Eric. I hope you find strength and comfort in your memories and the outpouring of love that the people that loved him have expressed since his sad passing. Every heart in the church was broken today as he made his final journey.

I first met Eric on our first day of secondary school in Collinstown Park, our surnames both began with H so we were sat next to each other all throughout school. He was a quiet witty and caring person and I can’t believe this sad news of his passing. Rest in peace my dear friend xxx

I am numb, stunned and devasted. You were a big part of my childhood, School life and teenage years. Many of Summers spent with you and Peter have left a lifetime of cherished memories that will forever live on. I never thought that when I said goodbye to you and Anne-Marie last year in Collinstown Park whilst we we were both out walking. That would be my last time to ever say goodbye to you. I worked with Eric in the passport office and we kept in touch afterwards. We called him "King" because he was special- one of a kind. He was a hard worker but always had time for a friendly chat and a bit of banter.

He oozed charm and personality. No airs or graces, just full of good decency and sincerity. No better man to lighten the mood when we were under presuure - his quick and sharp wit always got us through. He would often entertain us with funny stories from his past or from his many successes with the Pitch and Putt and not forgetting his 2-1 winning bets on the "Pool".

A really lovely fella who I will greatly miss.

I am so sad to read that Eric has passed away, I worked with Eric in Burgh Quay he loved to stop at your desk for a chat, what I loved about Eric is the way he spoke about his mam he adored her and spoke about her all the time, his partner Ann Marie he spoke so fondly of you also, he loved his pitch and putt and the last time I was chatting to him he had taken up running. Eric was one of the good ones, may he rest in peace
