I was so sad to hear of the passing of Ester. She was a very kind and caring person as well as being a tremendous person to have as a work colleague. So Sorry for yer loss

I started work as a planner for Cork County Council on 1/10/82. Ester worked in the drawing office which I had to visit once a week to check the details of my files. During these visits I would experience Ester's smile, lovely voice and interest in my work as a colleague. Soon these visits became a highlight of my work in county hall and even if I did not have to check files, I invented a reason to visit the drawing office. We all loved Ester (I certainly did) and I looked forward to our chats. It stopped when I left Cork 2.5 years later but 20 years later Ester contacted me and told me about her wish to do the master's course in planning that I had started in DIT in Dublin. I told her that she would have to come up to Dublin for a week each time to attend lectures but she said that that would be fine. She completed the course and fulfilled her wish to work as a planner. It was such a pleasure for me to get a second chance to meet her and to find her smile and voice were as cheerful as I remembered them from my early days in Cork. I will cherish my memories of her and offer my sympathy to her family. She was great.
