My Dad was a supplier to ― and later a buyer from Feargal for his own business. He was also a great admirer of the man whom he regarded almost as a friend―but then, didn't so many who encountered him in the course of business. Many of my family members were his customers, and still feel the link with him when we try to maintain the link by shopping in SuperValu (some old loyalties die hard). But so much more, Feargal Quinn was an innovator and a huge personality in retailing when retailing was undergoing a huge change and people talked about where they shopped because it mattered; in a small country, he was a man with star quality. He took charge of An Post, when postal services around the world were faltering, and just look at what a great job that organisation did for 2016. (They still provide a superb service.) He cared about people, and cared enough about people and his country to give 23 years of his life to the Seanad. I am currently reading his book, "Quinntessential Feargal", and it is a total joy. The Quinn family have lost someone very precious, and so has Ireland.

my memories of Mr Quinn was as a young girl shopping in Superquinn in Blackrock with my Mum. He was always there spending time with his customers are more importantly his staff. It was so evident even in my young years he valued his staff. They were always a happy team in Blackrock and as an adult now i can look back and say they were happy because they had a wonderful boss with empthany. Mr Quinn even put toppings on a pizza we were buying one day. i ended up in the Hospitality Industry and i manage a team everyday and i always like to think that small introduction i got in to the service industry when i shopped in Blackrock modelled my style of Managment . May he rest in peace a wonderful Man wh0 will remain in my memory.

Many years ago, my mother was on her way home from work and missed her bus. She was cold and tired. As she began to walk to another bus stop, a car pulled up. It was Fergal Quinn. He had seen what happened and he gave her a lift.

My sincere condolences to Mr.Quinn's wife and children, and family.

I had the honour of working at Mr.Quinn's store in Blanchardstown.
He was an excellent businessman, and extremely customer focused, and also, he always treated his staff so well and always had a nice smile.

I also had the pleasure of meeting him serveral times, whilst he attended some meetings in the Blanch store, and he was so nice to talk to, and made me feel at ease.

His philosophy in treating the customer with respect always resonates with me, and to this day, I still adhere to his 'boomerang' principle, and I still work in the retail sector.

R.I.P Feargal.

Your legacy will live on.

Mr Quinn was a true gentleman and a man I admired for my entire teenage and adult life. IT was a privilege to meet him while I attended Newbridge College on numerous occasions but back in the '70s at a career day was a new concept, the advice he gave me I still use daily and he gave me the foundations for my career to date. An inspiration

My father, Derek Newland, worked with Superquinn for 31 years and he always said in all that time they never had a cross word. When I was graduating from Trinity College, Mr Quinn met with me to talk about my future plans. What a lovely encouraging gentleman he was - the advice he gave to me on customer service I have never forgotten - he was unique. For him the customer was king and his employees a precious resource.

Sincere Condolences to all The Quinn Family. What an absolute Gent Feargal was, he had time for EVERYONE young and old. The treatment he gave US as customers we will never see the likes again. I remember many many years ago I was doing 'the big shop' for myself and a very ill friend. So there I am struggling with two trollies when Mr Quinn appeared asked me how many mouths I had to feed... I explained and he went and got a little girl Audrey was her name and her job every Thursday was to take my friends list and trolley so I wouldn't be 'stressed' in the days before we knew what stress was. That continued for a year until my friend got well again. Thankyou for making a difference to peoples lives. Your public will never forget the Superquinn, Superman that you were. Rest In Heavenly Peace.
