She taught me in Abbey National School where we knew her as Miss Benson. She was a great teacher and was always most kind and considerate to all of us.
Well I remember her coming from Loughrea in all weathers with Paddy Fahy on the motorbike. Later it was the green Anglia.
She prepared my class for First Holy Communion in 1955. Afterwards it was down to the school for her lovely egg sandwiches. She was a marvellous person and I will never forget her.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Delma .May she rest in peace

So sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. McDonnell. She was one of my favourite teachers. She thought me in 4th class and had a lasting impact on me. I remember making a cushion that my granny had for years afterwards. I also remember a project where we wrote to AT Cross and I got a pen with my name on it that I still have. My thoughts to her extended family. May she rest in peace.

Mrs. McDonnell taught me in 4th class in St. Ita's. She was a very talented and diligent teacher. I still remember some of the poems, the Kyrie in Latin and all about the columns and windows in the cathedral. We did lots of crafts and knitting and sewing - we even made an apron from a man's shirt. We were very lucky. My deepest sympathy to all her family. May she rest in peace.
