On behalf of the Spiritans in Ireland I extend our deep sympathy to all of Fr Dermot’s extended family, friends and Spiritan colleagues. After a long life of dedicated and joyful service to the church and the congregation in Ireland and the USA he was very happily retired among his own people in Rathnew, where he enjoyed a long retirement. May he, and all the Spiritans who have passed away in these difficult times, rest in peace.

So sorry to hear about Dermot's death. May he now enjoy the light, peace, joy and peace of Heaven. I knew him well during the time he served in St. Apollinaris, Napa when he was full of life. He was a very dynamic priest and joined in all the parish activities always willing to share his step-dancing expertise and beautiful singing voice, which the parishioners really enjoyed. I spoke with him many times in the Nursing Home and two weeks ago I could know that he wasn't well, although his voice was still strong and cheerful. It was lovely to have joined him for many celebrations in Rathnew over the years. He spoke so highly of all his relatives and friends and I know that you will be sad but also happy that you were there for him in his years of retirement.
