Fr. John was a cousin and great friend of my mother, Lily O’Flynn, nee McCreanor RIP. She loved to visit the Marley family in her younger days. Fr. John was always a welcome visitor when he came to Teconnaught and Downpatrick. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

As his young cousin I used to write to Fr. John in the Philippines. His visits to our house after seven year stints away were major events. We had great musical nights with singers, violinists (especially his dad Uncle Peadar) and accompanying pianist. A dedicated missionary - go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam uasal. Mícheál MacMaoláin.

My sincere condolences to the Marley Family, on the passing of Fr. John. He was a great friend and was so proud of having Married my parents, John and Pauline (Parnell) Kelly, in 1951, Married myself and my Husband, Derek Coombes, in 1980, Christened our Daughter, Lauren (Coombes) Conroy in 1982 and then Christened our two grandchildren, Rian Conroy in 2016 and then Mae Conroy in 2018 - four generations. We will miss our visits to Bristol, Rhode Island and our lunches in Aidans with Fr. John. Our last visit was two days before he returned home to Ireland where he was able to enjoy visits with numerous family members. xxx
