Louis was a very special man sent to inspire us all. There was an outpouring of sadness & love in St. Teresa’s Norris Green when we heard of his sad death. Our prayers and thoughts are with the McDermott family & his Oblate community.

Very sorry to hear of fr Louis passing, have such good memories of him from growing up in Darndale in the 70s, from school, the summer projects and many a house party he would attend, a really good man and priest.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our wonderful priest Louis. Our family was so blessed that he was in our parish which the children were in their formative years. There is no doubt his presence and humour have set them up on their spiritual journeys. God Bless Louis on his journey home to heaven. 🕯️🙏🌟

I have many fond memories of Fr Louis coming to visit the school and we often shared a story from the GAA world. He brought such joy to the school and was adored by staff and students alike. A lovely mass for a lovely man. Louis was so kind and generous with his time, very good to the sick. He always visited people in their home, hospital or nursing home. He was a gentle giant. Rest in peace Louis

Many thanks to all involved in this morning’s powerful liturgy celebrating Louis McDermott’s life and marking his sad passing. He was a fine Christian man and priest who acted justly, loved tenderly and walked humbly with his God.

Fr Louis was the parish priest at Holy family School when I was appointed. Headteacher. He was kind, gentle, humorous and filled with love for the people and children for whom he watched over in our Southampton school. He gave excellent advice and was one of the best guiding lights I have ever had the privilege to know.
The staff and children loved him in the purest sense and I give thanks that God sent him to us. May his soul rest in peace and May his family know God’s love at this terribly sad time.

Rest in peace Fr. Louis. You were a breath of fresh air the minute you walked into to OLOL. The children and teachers lit up when you were visiting, we looked forward to it. You were kind, caring and sensitive to the needs of the children and also had a great sense of humour with us all. You have been greatly missed.

What a lovely man and priest. It was a honour to know you, you were so gentle, humble and such a great character. You made everyone feel welcome and special. You had a great sense of humour. Had a great interest in the poor and people on the margins. You had a great interest in sport, even though I was not a Liverpool fan. So sorry to hear of the passing of Father Louis, we got to know him while minding our grandchildren in Inchicore when attending morning mass, he has such a way of involving everyone and blessing the children always had time to chat, will be sadly missed, RIP
