Ba mhaith liom mo chomhbhrón ó chroí a chur in iúl do Mhuintir Uí hOistín ar bhás an Athar Mícheál. Ba é an chéad duine i dTeach na Giúise ar ar chuir mise aithne nuair a cheannaigh mé mo theach i 1977. Shuigh sé liom i mo chistin fholamh ag míniú dom an pharóiste lenar bhain mé.Ní raibh de throscán agam ag an am ach dhá stól!
Is mór an tógáil chroí a chuireadh a chártaí Nollag orm thar na blianta. Creidim go bhfuil sé fós dár gcur i láthair Dé mar shagart agus é ar neamh.
— Etáin Nic Cinngamhna

Deepest sympathy to all the Hastings family on Fr. Micheàls death. We first met him in Ballybrack and then he did everything to get a church in Loughlinstown.for the people. He also was instrumental in building two of the finest schools. He officiated at our baby sons funeral and was so helpful over those dark days.
He also officiated at our daughters wedding in Laois 17 years ago.
He also traveled down on the train for a rehearsal.as he liked everything done right. It was a pleasure to also have Joan Skelly at the wedding as she and Gemma were good friends .
