So very sorry to hear of Fr. Crotty's passing. He was a most wonderful priest and human being. From the moment he arrived in our Parish, St. Killian's in Kingswood he endeared himself to all, standing outside the Church before Mass with his straw hat and big smile. The kids nicknamed him "The Man from DelMonte" He was a joy to have in the parish, always good humoured yet deeply spiritual. My late mother used to say it's so lovely to see a priest come out to say Mass with a big smile on his face. Himself and Fr. Gabriel O'Dowd were the dream team. We had a thriving parish thanks to them. They are both enjoying the rich rewards they so deserve. Deepest sympathy to his sister and extended family, your hearts are surely broken. Rest in God's peace Fr. Ollie.

To dear Carmel & all the Crotty & Griffin family. Our deepest sympathy to you all on the loss of such a wonderful man. We were blessed to have him as our pastor & friend for 12 years here in Glendalough. He continually filled us with joy, guided us spiritually, and gave us encouragement to witness our faith through song every Sunday. He was generous with his love, his words, his time, his wisdom, his song, he had enough for us all, and more! We will pray for you all in the sad days ahead, and we will never forget our dear friend. May he rest in peace and joy.

Deepest sympathy to Carmel and family on the sad loss of Fr. Oliver. R.I.P. This is a reflection he said at all funeral masses in St. Kevin's, REMEMBERING. Everybody loves to be remembered, but if we want to be remembered, we have a duty to remember. Memory is a powerful thing, Wrongly used it can bring death rather than life. Rightly used it is a form of immortality, it keeps the past alive. Those we remember never die, they continue to walk and talk with us. Their influence is still felt among us. Their is nothing stronger or more powerful than a good rememberance.
May Fr. Oliver's gentle soul rest in perfect peace. We will always remember him for his Goodness, Humour, Kindness, Generosity of Spirit, Compassion & the precious gift of his time and wonderful care he gave to all of his parisheners in St. Kevin,s..
— Pat & Patricia Cullen & Family

I was shocked to learn this morning of Fr Crotty's death, and am happy to be able to follow the Mass on line.
I met him recently when I spent some days in a hermitage and was greatly heartened by his inclusive language, his sensitivity to the language of the Liturgy and his encouraging and challenging homilies. All that, his humanity and booming cheerful voice were a great advertisement for the Gospel - an invitation. I thank God that I met him, however briefly. To Carmel, who was giving him "a dig-out" after his arm was broken, and to all his family, parishioners, Hermitage staff .. my deepest sympathy. Let's learn from him.
