On behalf of the Boland family, may I offer our deepest condolences to all of Paddys family.
Our mother, Bernie, was very fond of Paddy and always spoke very warmly of him.
I remember attending his ordination as a youngster.
May all of Paddy's family find comfort in their warm memories of him.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
— Aidan Boland, grandson of Rose Sugg (née Connolly)
We met Fr. Pat as he was know then when assigned to Cairo, Egypt. Indeed a proud Dublin man. Our son had been born in Dublin. So they “ United” as Dubs. A “ great” man to arrange a “hooley”. At one stage we met with the Irish Ambassador, Cairo. Brian O’Kelly. Pat asked Brian if he was ok for the hooley following Saturday. Brian asked where the hooley would be held. Pat laughed and said “In your apartment”. Pat also administered First Communion to our Daughter and Confirmation to our Son at Presentation Convent, Turner’s Cross, Cork, same day. Great memories of Fr. Pat. He was a credit to his Community. Demonstrated charity and understanding. Condolences to family and Community. Michael and Christine Moriarty.

Sincere sympathy to Nuala, Mary and Dermot on Paddy’s death. Your brother was an amazing person, priest and missionary.
Paddy was one the first SMA priests to embrace the Justice agenda - taking up issues relating to the environment, refugees etc. And this was 30 or more years ago. He was heavily involved with the Justice Office (AEFJN) set up in Brussels to put these issues before EU legislators and officials.
Paddy was also a proud Dub! And why not!! He loved Dublin and never failed to boast of his roots.
He had a great sense of humour and loved telling stories, even if some of them ‘got legs’ with Paddy’s telling. You always knew when Paddy was around. Never the quietest in the room!
These recent years must have been hard for him but, as a man of deep faith, Paddy carried that cross. God rest you Paddy. Pray for your siblings, all the family and all of your SMA confreres and supporters. I can’t imagine you resting in PEACE but enjoy your eternal life with God. M
