Sad to hear of the passing of Fr Ralph. He was our Parish Priest at St Gabriels in Prestonpans a number of years back, he was well loved and respected by all his parishioners. I had the pleasure of spending many an evening with him putting the world to rights, he was warm, personable and well read, always respectful, had a great sense of humour, and was a good listener. We are so sad to hear of Fr Ralph's passing (or Sean as his cousin my Dad always called him). Sean was great company and a kind and understanding man. He was the priest at my parents wedding, which was his first wedding as a priest, and he was the priest at our wedding.
He was an all round great man.

A man of intellect, wit, compassion and cultural curiosity, he adored God, his family, his Passionist brethren, close friends and parishioners. A modest man, he would be humbled by the high regard in which he was so clearly held. I hope he knew how much he meant to everyone.

A steady fixture in my own family for over 70 years, he will be very much missed.

We were so fortunate that Father Ralph married all 5 of us , sisters and brothers, even traveled to France for my brother’s Wedding. He baptised all of our children and as recently as 4 years ago baptised my granddaughter Isabella.
He was such a lovely person and will be missed by all who knew him .

He told us last November when celebrant at our annual Mass for our deceased past pupils that Mr. Reid was the first teacher to call him Johnny. That was the name that stuck to him in school. In my youth I served his mass on many on occasion in Mt. Argus, and in latter years along with my Uncle,
Fr. Brendan O’ Connell from Beauvais, Oise in France he baptised my daughter Sinead way back the years.
