Heartfelt sympathy to all of the family of this brave and wonderful man, most especially his dear Mum. I watched the programmer of the walk from Donegal to Cork and was blown away by the bravery of Tony. I have reason to have a charity day next year and from hearing and watching Fr Tony I am going to do it in aid of MND. Such a cruel disease, we need to help find a cure and also to help raise funds for caring for the patients and their families. This gentle man was an inspiration to all of us.
Rest In Peace

All our family are very sorry to hear of Tony's passing and our condolences to all the Coote family.
I will always remember his sunny disposition, full of purpose, energy and get up and go, and always with a smile on his face. He was great with engaging with people from any age or walk of life. He showed tremendous resilience and courage against such a debilitating disease, never lost his sense of humour, and was so admirable and selfless in turning his final months into something that benefitted others and inspired so many. He is a great loss to all who knew him.

As I read all the wonderful tributes to the most inspiring human being one could ever meet, I wonder what I can add, I didn't know Fr Tony personally but when I listened to his many sermons in the church of St. Therese I felt I had a friend, someone I could confide in when things became too much for me,a great comfort at the time. I don't know what God was thinking taking someone who was so important to today's church. My sympathy to Fr Tony's mother and extended family.

Tony, your faith is boundless. In life you had such faith in its goodness;, faith in all of us who crossed your path . Faith in God, Our Saviour.
In March 2018 relaying Tony’s diagnosis to a mutual friend she enquired “Had I rung him ? “ My response was “No, I was waiting to hear how he was going to turn such a desperate death sentence into a positive force for good “ 4 weeks later Tony was on RTE announcing his campaign ‘Walk while you can ‘
This was the Tony I met in his Ministry as Chaplin in Ballymun Comprehensive School 25 years ago. All of us who have had the luck to have encountered Tony are blessed by his Faith, Spirit, Grace, Humility, Humour, Love , Kindness, Generosity, and Bravery.
My sincere condolences to his beloved Mam , The Brothers , close family and friends on your enormous loss. May Tony and you all know the peace of God

To Fr Tony’s Family. He touched the hearts of the community with his warm friendly smile and had time to say hello to everyone as you saw him flying through the carpark on his way to somewhere! The children loved him and were so happy whenever he was involved in anything they were doing. He really knew how to engage them with such words of wisdom that was unique. It was a privilege to have had him in our lives and he made such a lasting impression on the young kids of the our community. He truly was admired. We are so grateful that he Christened our children and also that they got to make their Communion & Confirmation with him too. We will remember this fondly and he will be forever in our memories. He will be so missed by many. You were one in a million Fr Tony. Sending you all our deepest sympathies.
— Mount Merrion Parishioner
Rest in Peace Fr Tony and God bless you

— Dublin Mum
You made us laugh at every Mass. You kept the preaching short and really meaningful. You asked for love and not judgment. You rekindled faith in many, like me. You brought so many of us closer together in the community. You continued to help others, even in your ill health, trying to support the elderly, sick and lonely, comfort the bereaved and encouraging young people to always do their best. You made families with small (often spirited) kids feel very welcome and at ease in church. Your masses were legendary - especially the Christmas and Easter celebrations. What a huge loss for our parishes and Ireland. And, how we will miss you. But you left us with so many happy memories and a wonderful legacy of volunteerism, community spirit and not waiting for someone else to fix things. Thank you Fr Tony. Our sympathies to all Tony’s family, friends, colleagues, parish volunteers and the big circle of people Tony impacted so positively during his amazing life. RIP.

Dearest Fr Coote I have just watched what was probably your repeated appearance on Late Late Show
& you have indeed blessed so many along your path of faith in the Loving God - sadly I have witnessed many wrongs in Catholic Ireland but I have learnt to witness the true spirituality of God & Love and indeed Fr Coote you are at one with such......My darling mother used to say 'God only takes the best'....in the Valley of Darkness we shall speak God's Holy Name.....

When you were born, you cried and your family rejoiced, but when you died, you rejoiced, and your family cried. Your wonderful memory will live on, and you will be the brightest star in the sky for eternity. Sleep well free of pain & suffering Fr. Tony. What a wonderful man.
