Francis (Frank) Henry

So shocked & saddened after hearing the untimely death of a true gentleman. Sincere condolences to his wife and children and to his sister’s and brothers and all that are devastated on Franks passing. He was always someone I treasured meeting when I be home in Leixlip.a genuine friendly and compassionate gentleman who would go out of his way to help anybody, so sad taken way too soon. So sorry to hear about the sad passing of Frank. As a fellow west of Ireland man I got to know Frank while playing for Leixlip GAA. There is very little I can add to all of the above positive words. It with great shock I here of the passing of a lovely Gentle kind man in Frank Henry,when I met Frank for the first time I joined Fine Gael and Frank was an outstanding Gentleman I have met in my lifetime,so sorry to his Wife Ann and family ,condolence to his brothers and sisters ,may he rest in peace!and he will be missed around Leixlip with his lovely greeting smile,rest in pace Frank.God bless you.

Growing up, Frank was a hero to me like the Premier League superstars are to the young lads today. A gentleman and an inspiration to many of us, may he rest in peace.

We extend our very sincere condolences to Anne, Noel, Emer, Colm, Maeve and the extended Henry family on Frank's untimely death. He will be greatly missed in Leixlip and indeed much further afield. Frank's contribution to Leixlip GAA Club is inestimable as a player, coach, mentor, manager and administrator. He was unsparing of himself in every role he took on and his patience with those less talented than himself was much admired. He knew the real meaning of friendship and loyalty and was a leader and role model beyond compare. Regrettably circumstances prevented attendance at his funeral. May his gentle and humane soul rest in peace.

I will remember Frank as an absolute gentleman and a bedrock to St Mary's and Confey Gaa clubs down through the years. After reading a piece lately on his induction to the Shamrock Gaels' hall of fame back in 2016, I gather he was a very unassuming man and a fella not to cross on the football field as he represented Sligo and his club for many years with great distinction! We were truly deeply saddened to learn that Frank had lost his brave battle against his awful illness. An absolute gentleman, he was not only the most naturally gifted footballer I've ever had the privilege of playing with, soloing at top speed with both feet long before Shane Walsh was born, but remaining the epitome of modesty and humility in that regard. To my great regret, circumstances beyond our control prevented our being present at his funeral. To his beloved wife, Anne, to Noel, Emer, Colm and Maeve and to the Henry and Walsh families, all we can say is our hearts go out to you all at this very sad time. I am confident he has been given the welcome he has so richly earned in the great hereafter. A sli na firinne go raibh a anam dilis.
