Frank was one of the nicest persons one could have the privilege to know in life. He was very proud of his Cork roots. I had the honour to be his caddy in a golf match against Malahide many years ago. He was in a very difficult position with a line of trees between his ball and the green. "How can I get a ball over those trees" he asked me. I responded "Where are you from"? "From Cork, of course" was his immediate response. "Well", I said "today you are Christy Ring and you will hit that ball just as Christy would". And he did and the ball landed on the green. For many years later, whenever I met Frank at golf , I would ask him "Who are you"? And he would answer with a glint in his eye - "Christy Ring". We had years of enjoyment from that one incident. May he rest in Peace. Henry Murdoch, Dun Laoghaire Golf Club
