Sincere sympathies to Margaret and all the family on the death of Freddy. Freddy was two years ahead of me in the Crescent school in Limerick in the 1960s. With that age gap Freddy was a real role model to me, and what a model he was. My warm memories are of his good humour, friendliness, brightness, pleasant company and decency, a pleasure to grow up with. My condolences to you all.

— Richatd & Noreen Curtis
Deepest sympathy to his wife, Joan, and family. John was a rich old-style conversationalist with a remarkable melodious Limerick accent, quite a character. We covered many topics including the Church, the ghost of Dermot Cullen, Steorn the whacky free energy company and John's writings.
He was disappointed to see his Church in decline and harked back to the era of Bishop John Charles McQuaid, yet he took great comfort from St John's Church with its Latin mass tradition. His grandchildren should know they carry proud Limerick and Kentucky Gene's. May John rest in peace.
— Aidan Sullivan Dublin

The quintessential Irish gentleman, a good friend with a sharp intellect, a golden heart and a silver tongue. He lived his Catholic faith with deep conviction and allowed it to permeate every aspect of his life with elegant discretion. No doubt he is fascinated by the vision of God at last, face to face. Best regards and prayers.
